Michael Boughen

Executive Producer/Producer/Writer, Ambience Entertainment

Spanning 40 years Michael began his career as an actor, before moving into writing, directing and producing. He has worked in the entertainment industry in the UK, New Zealand, Canada and Australia. During his career he has written stage plays, TV dramas, screenplays, and light entertainment shows. Forming a partnership with Ambience Entertainment in 2003 Michael created and executive produced ‘Go Go Stop’, and ‘Move it’ and co-produced with Canadian company CCI Entertainment the animation series Erky Perky. He also executive produced Figaro Pho for ABC TV.

In 2006 Michael returned to drama and with Ambience Entertainment, ‘crossed a cultural milestone’ in programming with ‘Wait For Me In Sydney’ a 26-part drama coproduction with China’s number one broadcaster CCTV.

Michael wrote and produced the feature film ‘Dying Breed’ (released 2008), produced Sean Byrne’s highly acclaimed ‘The Loved Ones’ (released 2009), ‘Tomorrow When the War Began’ based on the first book in John Marsden’s series of the same name (released 2010) and ‘Killer Elite’ starring Jason Statham and Robert de Niro (released 2011).

In 2015 he produced a 6-part series for the ABC based on ‘Tomorrow When the War Began’ and followed that in 2017 with ‘Storm Boy’ which he produced, and script edited. He wrote the successful thriller feature ‘Great White’, Martin Wilson’s directorial debut in 2019. In 2020 he wrote and Executive Produced 8 episodes of ‘The Gamers 2037’

In 2021 he produced ‘Interceptor’ author Matthew Reilly’s feature film, releasing in 2022. He has two feature thrillers in early pre-production, both written by him, ‘Deep Sea Predators’, ‘Wolf Force 1’ and writing an action feature based on a true story ‘Argyle Law’. In 2019 he secured the rights to ‘A Fortunate Life’ by A B Facey and a script has been written.   

Most recently he produced, and location directed the smash hit ‘Muster Dogs’ for the ABC TV based on his original concept.
